AKA
Sometimes ...
What happened in Chicago the night of September 30th is unAmerican. The behavior of American law enforcement and maybe military—acting in our name—is an abhorrent act that crossed too many red lines to count. Any elected official who fails to object is a coward, unfit for office. Any officials who defend it are co-conspirators in a coup against American democracy.
I wrote an earlier version of AKA in mid-July. The gist was to: 1) point out that Nazi imagery can divert from the message; but that 2) sometimes it’s the only way to describe what’s happening. I also liked the meta-aspect of our character knowing that he exists in a series of panels. I figured I’d hold off on it until the “right” time. After Chicago, if not now, when? So here it is.
